From Paris, our original plan was to train into Switzerland and stay in the cutest, little town up in the Swiss Alps. Well, that quickly changed when we checked the weather and realized there was a massive blizzard hitting the Alps. After chatting with my European travelin' parents, they advised us to head south into warmer weather and visit both Milan and Siena, Italy. We were so glad we followed their suggestions. Spencer and I absolutely loved both locations! We flew to Milan and only had about 24 hours there, but it was a blast. A huge highlight of the trip for both of us was being able to see Leonardo DaVinci's the 'Last Supper' mural painting. It was an incredible and spiritual experience that we'll never forget. We loved Milano!
This was our favorite hotel of the whole trip, Hotel Gran Duca di York!
When I saw that it had a bathtub I sang with joy! Just around the corner we had one of the
best meals of our lives, macaroni with melon and sausage and mozzarella pizza. Mama mia!
Duomo di Milano
We joined a tour group to see major sights in Milan.
Below is Stefano, our Italian tour guide. We got a serious kick out of him.
Spencer, the Asian tourist.
We had 15 minutes to view DaVinci's masterpiece, the 'Last Supper'. It was amazing to see in person!!
They probably would have cut off my arm if I took a picture of the real thing,
so this fake one in the gift shop was the best we could do.
The 'Last Supper' is housed in the refectory at the Convent of Santa Maria della Grazie (below).
Ciao Milano!
Next stop... Siena, Italy!
