From London, we headed off to Bruges, Belgium which turned out to be one of my very favorite parts of the whole trip! We zipped on the Eurostar train underneath the English Channel to Brussels, then on to Bruges. Even though I had caught a cold and it rained on us both days in Bruges (I got very good at blow drying my TOMS in the hotel room), we absolutely adored every minute there. Bruges is a Gothic city and is referred to as the "Venice of the North" because of the many canals that line its streets. I was in complete heaven just strolling and holding my hubby's hand as we walked along the beautiful waterways with our umbrellas. Bruges is also VERY famous for their waffles, french fries, and chocolate! We had so much fun exploring the city and going from shop to shop sampling handmade chocolates (hazelnut cookie crunch covered in dark chocolate was our favorite!).
This place is amazing. Simply amazing. I'll let the pictures do the talking. :)
These are bikes at the train station... and this is only half of them.
Bruges Market Square
This little hunk of chocolatey joy was one of my favorite treats of the trip.
I stirred it in a cup of frothy, hot milk and created the most delicious hot chocolate I have ever tasted!
We brought these chocolate sticks home to our moms as souvenirs.
But, I keep asking myself... why I didn't bring a case of them home for myself?
...next, off to Paris, France! Oui oui!
